COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
FRANKFURTERS
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has authorized
the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This Commercial Item Description (CID) covers a skinless frankfurters.
Salient characteristics.
The frankfurter shall, be natural color (no artificial coloring). The interior cut surface shall be smooth, fine textured, light to moderately dark pink in background color, and finely mottled with evenly distributed light to dark red flecks. The frankfurters shall be the formula, size, length, and packaging specified. Frankfurters shall be uniform in length and size.

Contractor’s Certification.
By submitting an offer, the contractor certifies that the product offered meets the specified salient characteristics and requirements of this CID. The Government reserves the right to determine proof of conformance prior to the first delivery from point of origin and any time thereafter, up to and including delivery at final destination, as may be necessary to determine conformance to the provisions of the contract.
Finished product requirements.
The frankfurters shall conform to the requirements in Table
II and shall meet the criteria in
Table I.
