6.3 First article inspection. When a first article sample is required, it will be inspected and

approved under the appropriate provisions of FAR 52.209. The first article should be a

preproduction sample. The contracting officer should include specific instructions in all

acquisition documents regarding arrangements for selection, inspection, and approval of the first

article.
