5.2 Quality assurance. When required in the solicitation, contract, or purchase order that product quality or acceptability or both be determined by the Grading Branch, Poultry Division, Agricultural Marketing Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, the determination shall be made in accordance with applicable Poultry Division procedures. The chicken fillets or nuggets shall be examined or tested for compliance to the product requirements in this CID, solicitation, contract, or purchase order, and, when applicable, the United States Standards for Condition of Food Containers currently in effect on the date of the solicitation and in accordance with the requirements in the applicable regulations.
6. PACKAGING.
6.1 Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking. Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and case marking shall be as specified in the solicitation, contract, or purchase order.
6.2 Packaging and packing. Packaging and packing shall be in accordance with current commercial practices that are commercially acceptable for consumer-type packaging and packing.
6.3 Marking and labeling. Shipping containers shall be marked and labeled as prescribed in the applicable contract or solicitation document(s). The marking and labeling of the product shall be in accordance with the requirements of 9 CFR Part 381. The labels shall be approved by the Facilities, Equipment, Labeling and Compound Review Division, FSIS, USDA, prior
to use [9 CFR ยง 381.134].
7. NOTES.
7.1 Purchasers shall specify:
- Types(s).
- Style(s).
- Product shape (Indicate round, oval, or no preference).
- Packaging and packing (Indicate commercial, export, and whether packaged 5 or
10 pounds of product per plastic-film bag (as applicable)).
- Labeling, packaging, and other requirements if different from normal commercial requirements practice.
